German/English Henkel Fan Guide for Vienna in “Weanerisch“
|

|
Henkel’s hommage to Vienna is 48 pages long. Vienna is
the place where Henkel products have been available for more
than 120 years, and where Henkel has been operating a production
facility in the Erdberg section of the town for 80 years. Football
fans will be accompanied through Vienna in 21 different scenes
– from their arrival, searching for a hotel and cheering
on their favourite team at the stadium to eating at the hot
dog stand, flirting and departing the city. Each scene contains
ten suitable expressions in Viennese, German and English, as
well as a caricature drawn by the artist Hans Gramm. |
| Henkel
CEE President Günter Thumser says: “Our fan guide
is a means of demonstrating our strong ties to Vienna, where
our Erdberg plant currently produces close to 200,000 tons annually
of detergents and cleansers. Moreover, the company connects
its umbrella brand “Henkel” with the slogan “A
Brand like a Friend”. That means the many football fans
coming to Vienna in June should leave the city as its friends,
because they felt good here and warmly accepted. In particular,
it will be obvious to our German guests, as the fan guide shows,
that in addition to many other characteristics, our joint language
serves as a divisive factor”. |

| Use
the link on the right side to download the Henkel Fan
Guide free of charge. The download of the accompanying
mp3 files can also be done at no cost. They contain spoken texts
by the actor Klaus Rott (who played Karli Sackbauer in the Viennese
cult TV series “Ein echter Wiener geht nicht unter”
– A Real Viennese Won’t Go Under), along with Lars
Witteck and Mark Heather. |
|
| With
its Henkel Fan Guide, the company supports an association called
“Contrast” (www.contrast.or.at)
at the Viennese Institute of the Blind within the context of
its Henkel Smile initiative (www.henkel-smile.at).
Its therapists take care of more than 200 small children who
are blind or have a serious visual impairment. Henkel
will pay 5 cents to Contrast for every download.
We would be happy for any additional donations to Contrast! |

-
Claudia Leithner (not a football fan!!!) for her texts which repeatedly
hit the bullseye
-
the artist Hans Gramm, who has optimally supplied us with biting
cartoons
-
Mark Heather (www.mhcommunication.com),
who “very successfully“ assumed the role of the Englishman
-
Birgit König (www.bik.at),
who graphically converted our ideas into a concrete shape
-
The actor Klaus Rott, who not only did well as a cover model,
but who also worked hard to be a “real Viennese“ in
the recording studio. For him as the actor playing “Karli
Sackbauer“ (www.karlisackbauer.at),
this was anyway a matter of course
-
Peter Svec (www.pixxl.at)
our master of photography
|
- Georg
Strzyzowski, who ensured a good atmosphere during this whole project
-
Willy Zwerger (www.kleinundkunst.at)
for the idea about Vienna
-
Ulli “it won’t work“ Scheirer, Henkel’s
communications manager in Vienna, for her organizational talent
-
Lars Witteck, head of external communications at Henkel in Düsseldorf,
who gave us Austrians a course in High German within the context
of this project
